We start with a Casablanca city tour: the royal palace exterior and the interior of the Hassan II Mosque. We then visit the Jewish quarter and its synagogues (Bet-El, Em Habanim, Neve Shalom) and the Museum of Moroccan Judaism. We drive to Rabat to visit the Chellah, the Kasbah of the Oudayas and the Mellah, now home to a few Jewish families, and continue to Salé, birthplace of Rabbi Hayyim Ben Moses Attar, known for his Torah commentary Or ha-Hayyim. After lunch, we head to Fes via Volubilis, the Roman city near Meknes and Moulay Idriss, once a regional center for grain production and trade with the Berber tribes. Dinner and overnight in a local riad in Fes.

Day 2: Fes → Chefchaouen → Fes
After breakfast, we cross the Rif Mountains via Ouazzane to Chefchaouen. Spend the day in the blue-washed alleys of the medina, visit the Kasbah with its gardens, small museum and rooftop views, then walk in the nearby hills to the waterfalls. The town was settled by Andalusian exiles, Muslim and Jewish, and a popular local tradition links its blue color to Jewish heritage. Shops sell local crafts such as wool garments and woven blankets. We return to Fes for the night in the same riad.

Day 3: Fes → Ifrane → Azrou → Erfoud → Merzouga
We cross the Middle Atlas to Ifrane, nicknamed “Little Switzerland”, and stop at its stone Atlas lion statue. We continue through the Azrou cedar forest, where you can see the giant old cedar and feed Barbary macaques. Lunch in Midelt, then we follow the green Ziz Valley, with adobe architecture, palm groves and distant kasbahs. Near Erfoud, the landscape opens onto the Merzouga dunes, where you are welcomed with mint tea. Ride your camel into the dunes to reach your camp and climb a high dune for sunset. Dinner by the campfire and overnight in a deluxe desert camp.

Day 4: Merzouga
After breakfast, visit Khamlia, the village of the Gnawa community, to learn about their music and way of life. Then drive through the desert to meet nomad families. In the evening, ride your camel back into the dunes, climb a high dune for sunset and enjoy a campfire dinner and a second night in the deluxe camp.

Day 5: Merzouga → Todra Gorge → Dades Gorge
Watch the sunrise over the desert and ride back to the village. After breakfast, drive via Rissani and Tinghir to the Todra Gorge, among the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco. Continue through the Dades Valley and its “monkey toes” rock formations. Overnight in a local hotel or riad.

Day 6: Dades Gorge → Ouarzazate → Aït Benhaddou → Marrakech
We drive through the Dades Valley to Kalaat M’Gouna, the “rose city”, where you can buy local rosewater. We pass Skoura and Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa”, with an optional stop at the film studios. We then cross the Tizi n’Tichka pass to Marrakech.
