Day 1: Fes → Ifrane → Midelt → Erfoud → Merzouga
Your driver meets you at Fes Saïss Airport. We head south through the Middle Atlas, passing Ifrane and the cedar forests of Azrou, where you can stop to feed the Barbary macaques. Lunch in Midelt, then we follow the Ziz River valley, stop at the Ziz Gorges and continue to Merzouga.
Day 2: Merzouga → Erg Chebbi → Merzouga
Explore the Erg Chebbi dunes on a circuit that takes you to nomad families and shows the changing colors of the desert. Visit Khamlia, the « black village », to hear Gnawa musicians, then have a traditional Berber pizza for lunch in Rissani. In the afternoon, ride a camel to watch the sunset over the dunes and spend the night in your desert camp. Dinner is a traditional tagine, followed by mint tea, Berber music and stargazing.
Day 3: Erg Chebbi → Rissani → Todra Gorge
After breakfast, ride back to the hotel at the edge of the dunes for a quick shower. Leave Erg Chebbi and cross the black hamada by 4×4 to Rissani, where you can visit the lively local market. Continue to Erfoud, famous for its fossils, and stop at a fossil workshop. Then drive to the Todra Gorge, popular with rock climbers, for a hike before dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Todra Gorge → Dades Valley → Skoura → Ouarzazate
Follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, lined with fortified houses, some restored and others in ruins. Cross the Dades Valley and take an off-road track into the mountains, passing Berber villages and cave-dwelling nomads. Visit one of these families and see how they herd their goats and sheep. Pass through the colorful Rose Valley and the Skoura palm grove, then continue about 45 km to Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Ouarzazate → Aït Benhaddou → Telouet → Marrakech
