Day 1: Agadir – Essaouira
Begin your adventure with a morning exploration of Agadir. Walk along the sandy beach and lively corniche, wander the souks, or admire views from the old kasbah. Later, drive up the Atlantic coast to Essaouira, a charming port city with a mix of Berber, Portuguese, Jewish, and French influences. Discover artisan workshops, narrow medina streets, and the port where fresh catches are brought in daily.
Day 2: Essaouira – Marrakech
Travel inland through rolling argan forests, where goats are sometimes seen climbing the trees. Visit local women’s cooperatives producing argan oil, then continue to Marrakech. Evening at leisure.
Day 3: Full Day in Marrakech
Explore Marrakech, the “Red City,” with its blend of history, culture, and vibrant atmosphere. Highlights include the Saadian Tombs, Bahia and El Badi Palaces, Ben Youssef Madrasa, and the Koutoubia Mosque. In the afternoon, visit the Majorelle and Menara Gardens. End the day in Jemaa El Fna square, alive with storytellers, musicians, and street food vendors.
Day 4: Marrakech – Casablanca
Head north toward Morocco’s largest city, Casablanca. Visit the striking Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, perched dramatically over the ocean. Enjoy time along the corniche before overnight stay.
Day 5: Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes – Fes
Depart for Rabat, Morocco’s capital, where you’ll explore the Hassan Tower, the Royal Palace, and the picturesque Kasbah of the Udayas. Continue to Meknes, famous for Bab El Mansour gate, Moulay Ismail’s mausoleum, and the historic stables. In the evening, arrive in Fes.
Day 6: Fes – Azrou – Midelt – Imilchil
Leave Fes for the Middle Atlas Mountains. Pass through Ifrane, often called “Little Switzerland,” and Azrou, where cedar forests shelter Barbary monkeys. Stop in Midelt for lunch before continuing through rugged mountain scenery to the village of Imilchil, near Lake Tislit.
Day 7: Imilchil – Todgha Gorges – Merzouga Desert
Travel toward the dramatic Todgha Gorges with their towering cliffs and Berber villages. After lunch, continue through Erfoud and Rissani to reach Merzouga, where camels await to take you across the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Spend the night in a desert camp under a starlit sky with traditional Berber music.
Day 8: Merzouga – Rissani – Draa Valley – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate
Wake early to watch the sunrise over the dunes, then return by camel to Merzouga. Drive toward Rissani, a historic caravan town, before continuing through the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the palm groves of the Draa Valley. Arrive at Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar famous for its fortified mudbrick architecture and film appearances.
Day 9: Ait Ben Haddou – Taliouine – Taroudant
Journey through Tazenakht, known for its handmade carpets, and Taliouine, Morocco’s saffron hub. Visit a saffron cooperative or museum before arriving in Taroudant, a walled town often compared to Marrakech but with a quieter, more authentic charm.
