Next, continue to Meknes, another imperial city, known for its grand gates, palaces, and monuments dating back to the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail. After a short visit, head to Fes for your overnight stay.

Day 4: Guided Tour of Fes

Spend the day exploring Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital with a local guide. Walk through the labyrinthine streets of the old medina, where you’ll encounter bustling souks, ancient mosques, and madrasas (Islamic schools).

Day 5: Fes → Ifrane → Azrou → Midelt → Erfoud → Merzouga (Sahara Desert)

Today’s drive takes you through the Middle Atlas Mountains, starting with a stop in Ifrane, often called the “Moroccan Switzerland” for its alpine-style architecture and ski resorts. Continue to the cedar forests near Azrou, where Barbary macaque monkeys roam freely.

After a lunch stop in Midelt, travel through the scenic Ziz Valley with its palm groves and fortified villages. By late afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Spend the night on the edge of the dunes.

In the morning, embark on a 4×4 excursion to explore desert landscapes and visit Berber nomad families to learn about their way of life. Stop in the village of Khamlia to enjoy traditional Gnawa music.

Later in the afternoon, switch to camels and trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes to your desert camp. Watch the sunset over the golden sands, enjoy a traditional dinner, and spend the night under the star-filled sky with music and storytelling around the campfire. Overnight in a luxury desert camp.

Day 7: Merzouga → Rissani → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley

Wake early to witness a spectacular sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, travel through Rissani, an ancient trading town known for its bustling souk and fossil shops. Continue toward Tinghir and stop at the stunning Todra Gorge, where massive cliffs rise dramatically on both sides.

Enjoy a short hike or simply relax by the river before continuing to the lush Dades Valley, famous for its kasbahs, palm groves, and unique rock formations. Overnight in Dades Valley.
