Day 1: Errachidia – Merzouga Desert

Your journey begins upon arrival at Moulay Ali Cherif Airport in Errachidia, where your driver-guide will welcome you and ensure a smooth transfer to Merzouga.

As you travel south, the landscape gradually transforms from rocky plateaus into palm-filled valleys and desert expanses, offering a first glimpse of the pre-Saharan environment.

Upon arrival in Merzouga, you will check into a comfortable hotel located near the dunes of Erg Chebbi. The evening is reserved for rest and relaxation, allowing you to recharge before the desert adventure begins. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Merzouga Region Exploration – Camel Trek – Desert Camp

After breakfast, the day begins with a 4×4 exploration of the Merzouga region and the surroundings of Erg Chebbi.

The first stop is Hassi Labied oasis, where you will discover traditional irrigation systems that sustain agriculture in this arid environment. This reflects the ingenuity of local communities in adapting to desert conditions.

You will then continue toward the seasonal Sriji Lake (if water is present), a natural habitat for migratory birds. The journey proceeds to Khamlia village, where you will experience Gnawa music, a spiritual and rhythmic tradition rooted in African heritage.

Next, you will visit the M’ifis mining area, known for its fossils and minerals, offering insight into the geological richness of the region. A meaningful highlight of the day is a visit to a nomadic Berber family, where you will share mint tea and learn about their traditional lifestyle.

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will return to Merzouga for the camel trek. Accompanied by an experienced guide, you will ride into the dunes for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. A stop will be made on a high dune to admire the sunset, creating a truly unforgettable moment.

Upon arrival at the desert camp, you will be welcomed with mint tea and escorted to your private tent. The evening includes a traditional Moroccan dinner followed by Berber music around the campfire. Overnight stay in a fully equipped desert camp.

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Ziz Valley – Errachidia

Early in the morning, you may climb a dune to witness the sunrise over the Sahara, a peaceful and memorable experience.

After breakfast and a shower at the camp, you will return to Merzouga village by camel or 4×4 vehicle. You will then begin your journey back to Errachidia.

The first stop is Rissani, a historically significant town and former center of trade. If your visit coincides with a market day, you will explore its lively traditional souk.

The journey continues to Erfoud, known for its fossil industry and date production. An optional visit to a fossil workshop can be arranged.

Traveling through Aoufous, you will reach the Ziz Valley, where a panoramic stop allows you to admire the vast palm groves stretching along the river.

Finally, you will arrive in Errachidia and be transferred to the airport or your accommodation, marking the end of your desert experience.
