Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Ait Ben Haddou → Dades Valley

Your adventure begins early in Marrakech, where your private driver-guide will take you on a breathtaking journey through the High Atlas Mountains. The winding Tizi n’Tichka Pass offers sweeping views of terraced fields, Berber hamlets, and snow-capped peaks in the distance. Several stops are made along the way for photos and short walks.

By late morning, you arrive at the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walking through its maze of mud-brick streets feels like stepping back in time, with kasbah towers standing proudly as reminders of Morocco’s caravan history.

After a leisurely lunch in nearby Ouarzazate, often called the “Gateway to the Desert,” the journey continues through the Skoura Oasis, dotted with palm groves and traditional earth-built fortresses. In the afternoon, you reach the Dades Valley, famous for its rugged canyons, red cliffs, and unusual rock formations nicknamed the “Monkey Fingers.” The evening is spent enjoying a traditional dinner and a peaceful night in the valley.

Day 2: Dades Valley → Todra Gorge → Merzouga → Sahara Desert Camp

The day begins with breakfast overlooking the valley before setting off toward the Todra Gorge. Here, limestone cliffs rise dramatically on either side of a narrow canyon where a cool river flows. You’ll have time for a short walk along the gorge to admire its sheer scale and natural beauty.

Continuing the journey east, the scenery gradually transforms into desert plains as you pass through Berber villages and the town of Rissani, once a key trading post on ancient caravan routes. By afternoon, you arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the Sahara.

Here, you trade your vehicle for camels and ride into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. The slow, rhythmic trek across rolling sands is timed perfectly for sunset, when the desert glows in shades of orange and gold. Upon arrival at your luxury desert camp, you’ll be welcomed with mint tea and Moroccan hospitality.

The evening unfolds with opportunities for sandboarding, a freshly prepared dinner, and live Berber music around the campfire. Under one of the clearest night skies on Earth, stargazing becomes an unforgettable highlight before retiring to your private tent.

Day 3: Merzouga → Draa Valley → Ouarzazate → Marrakech

Rise early to witness the magical sunrise over the dunes, a serene experience as the Sahara awakens in soft hues of pink and gold. After breakfast at camp, you may have the chance to meet a nomadic family nearby, offering insight into their traditional lifestyle.

Departing Merzouga, the route leads through vast desert landscapes before following the fertile stretch of the Draa Valley. This green ribbon of palm groves, kasbahs, and villages provides a striking contrast to the arid surroundings.

The journey continues across the Anti-Atlas Mountains and back toward Ouarzazate, where you can pause to explore the impressive Kasbah of Taourirt or simply enjoy the views of this cinematic city. From there, the road climbs once more through the High Atlas before descending into Marrakech by evening.

Your tour concludes with a head full of unforgettable memories — from camel rides and desert sunsets to the warmth of Berber hospitality and Morocco’s stunning variety of landscapes.
