Day 1: Marrakech – Imlil – First Village Trek

Your journey begins with a transfer from Marrakech to the mountain village of Imlil, the main gateway to the Atlas trekking region.

Upon arrival, you meet your trekking team, including your local guide, cook, and mule handlers. The hike begins gently, passing through terraced fields, orchards, and small Berber villages built into the mountainside.

This first day is designed to ease you into the rhythm of trekking while introducing the landscapes and culture of the Atlas.

Overnight in a traditional mountain guesthouse.

Day 2: Imlil – Tizi n’Mzik Pass – Azzaden Valley

After breakfast, the trek becomes more immersive as you ascend toward the Tizi n’Mzik Pass (around 2,400 meters).

The climb is steady, offering increasingly expansive views over valleys and peaks. At the summit, you are rewarded with panoramic scenery that captures the raw beauty of the High Atlas.

The descent leads into the lush Azzaden Valley, known for its greenery, walnut groves, and traditional stone houses. This contrast between rugged mountains and fertile valleys creates one of the most visually striking days of the journey.

Overnight in a mountain lodge in the valley.

Day 3: Azzaden Valley – Remote Villages – High Plateau

The trek continues deeper into less-traveled areas of the Atlas Mountains.

You hike through remote Berber villages where daily life remains largely unchanged for generations. Along the way, you encounter shepherds, agricultural terraces, and traditional irrigation systems that reflect the region’s resilience.

The route gradually climbs toward higher ground, offering sweeping views across multiple valleys and mountain ridges. The sense of isolation and tranquility becomes more pronounced.

Overnight in a guesthouse or camp depending on the route.

Day 4: High Plateau – Scenic Descent to Imlil Region

After breakfast, you begin your descent through scenic mountain trails back toward the Imlil region.

The path winds through varied landscapes, from rocky ridges to green valleys, offering a final opportunity to absorb the diversity of the Atlas Mountains. The descent is moderate and allows for a relaxed pace.

Upon arrival, you enjoy a comfortable evening, reflecting on the trekking experience.

Overnight in a guesthouse in Imlil.

Day 5: Imlil – Return to Marrakech

After breakfast, you are transferred back to Marrakech.
